A Little History....
It's all Kristi's fault...really.

Her former quartet was breaking up (amicably...thankfully), but she just couldn't stand the thought of not singing in a quartet, something she'd done since age 16. So, just mere days after the former quartet's last performance and after promising her tenor friend, Tera, that they'd relax and take the summer off before starting over, she went straight to work. (Yep, she lied.)

She cornered Karen at chorus rehearsal, asking if she would like to sing lead in a quartet, promising that "it'll be just for fun...we'll only get together every couple weeks or so to practice..." (She lied.) Karen agreed, and then she cornered Cathy, the new bass in the chorus, and asked her the same question and made the same promise. (She lied...again.)

One thing left to do...call her tenor friend, Tera, who thought she'd get to take the summer off from quartetting, and give her the good news. "Hey, I've got a lead and a bass so we can start a new quartet!" To which Tera responded, "What happened to taking some time off?"

"I lied."

The first rehearsal of the prospective quartet was scheduled for a Saturday afternoon at a regional music camp, just to try it out to see how the voices blended...no pressure, no commitment. Well, it didn't take long to figure out that it sounded good! They sang for both their choruses that night. Everybody keep saying, "Wow, you sound great! How long have you been singing together?"

"About an hour..."

Obviously, the girls were on Cloud 9, quite amazed at how their first meeting had gone. They simply couldn't quit grinning, and Just 4 Grins was born...

And that's no lie!
