**Barbershop Harmony Society**

The Harbor City Harmonizers, under the direction of Duane McCarter, is a men's acapella chorus of the Melbourne Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We perform as a chorus and with quartets. Our entire chorus as well as several quartets (depending on the type of performance your organization prefers) are available to perform at public and private events in and around Brevard County, Florida. **Our Chapter**

Duane (pictured front row, center, behind kneeling chorister) joined the Barbershop Harmony Society at the age of 13, and since then the "hobby" has become a way of life. So far, most of his barbershop experience has been in the Northeastern District, before moving to Florida with his family in 2001. While in the Northeastern District, Duane was a chorus director for 10 years in Laconia, New Hampshire, and sang in two registered quartets, the second of which, "Minor Adjustments," competed successfully and sang in many chapter shows throughout New England for about six years. Duane also sang with and served as baritone section leader for the "Nashua Granitestatesmen Chorus" and was privileged to be able to perform with them at two international competitions. Somehow, amidst all of that activity, Duane also served as quartet and chorus coach within the District, as well as faculty for many District schools. He also sang in the mixed quartet "Quadlibet" with his wife; that quartet sang in a number of performances and had the distinct honor of being the 2001 Bolton Landing Barbershop Quartet Festival Champions. Duane joined the Harbor City Harmonizer's as director in April 2002.
Harbor City Harmonizer Highlights Chartered in 1990, with over 50 members and ages ranging from 14 to 70+ Develop musical excellence and enjoy great fellowship and family involvement This March presented its 17th annual show "Broadway Bound" featuring the International Champions quartet "Vocal Spectrum" at the Gleason Center for the Performing Arts, Florida Institute of Technology, and entertained an enthusiastic afternoon and evening audience In 2003 presented their first Christmas Concert which met with great success. Subsequent Christmas shows have received even greater audience response. Steadily improving its ranking among other choruses in District competition The Harbor City Harmonizers and the Barbershop Harmony Society are non-profit organizations which support local and national charities and music education events
