1. Signing up for Yahoo!

This is for all Garden City Chorus Members who need help getting to the Yahoo! Groups GCC Page.

1.1 Where is the site?

The Garden City Chorus has a page that handles all of the group emails, files, etc... you can get to that page by clicking on the following link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gardencitychorus

Click on that link, when you get there you will our main group homepage. Note near the top whether it says either,

If it says 'Welcome, Guest' skip to Section 1.2. Otherwise, make sure the person being welcomed is you. Computers sometimes remember who was using them last and it may think you are your son, daughter, wife, strange person who stopped by to check their email at your house last week... you get the idea. If it is not you, click the link on the right hand side of the page that says, "Sign Out" and procede to the next step. If it is you, skip to Section 1.3

1.2 Register for a Yahoo! username

On the right hand side of the page find and click the link that says, "Sign In". If you are an existing Yahoo! user, sign in using the blanks provided for your Yahoo!ID and your password. When you log in you will be automaticly taken back to the main GCC group page. If you have signed in successfully, skip to Section 1.3.

If you do not have a Yahoo! ID, click the link that says, "Sign up now." This will take you to the registration page. Follow the instructions on the page and fill out the form to get a Yahoo! ID. You do not have to activate Yahoo! Mail if you do not want to. You may use your current email address to send and receive group mail. If there were any errors processing your form, you will be taken back to the form and the problems will be hilighted in red. Fix the errors and Submit the form until it tells you that you have successfully completed the registration process. Now that you have a Yahoo! ID, you can access the group page.

1.3 Join the GardenCityChorus Group

In case you are lost, here is the link again...

Ok... we are very close now. Click the link that says, "Join This Group," and fill out the form on the next page. Your best bet, unless you understand what this form is asking, is to choose the email address you use most often, do not check the hide email box, choose "Individual Emails," and choose "Convert to HTML." Now double check to make sure everything is correct. If it is, Click the Join button at the bottom of the page. That is it!

Actually, to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if that is it. One of the group moderators may have to approve your joining the group. I do not know, as I am not one of the moderators. So you might get a screen that says, you have joined the group. If not, then your membership should be approved in a few minutes or hours... Check back later.

1.4 What am I doing here?

Yes, well now, this is a tough spot you are in, is it not? I am not ready to write this part of the page. Just look around. Post a message to see what happens. Upload a file or picture to the site. Whatever you want to do is fine. Don't worry about messing something up. It's set up to keep the data fairly protected. If you have any questions you can email me at mgottlieb01@comcast.net

OoOoOo... I did think of one thing to do when you get into the group. Go to the Database section, click on the database named 'Members' and add a record for you. This will be a great place to keep a member roster.
