Letter of Intent
TO:
Division Vice President, Doug Ellis
Western Division Chapter Persidents
SUBJECT: The creation
of an additional chapter of SPEBSQSA in the city of London Ont.
It has long been the subject of casual discussion in
barbershop circles that the city of London with its multi-faceted cross-section
of cultural, economic, educational and social strengths and service area
of close to half a million people could easily support additional chapters
of this great hobby of barbershopping. There is such a resource to be tapped
in this community and there are four young, energetic harmony lovers who
wish to make it happen. It is our plan to provide for the community a program
of social, performance style barbershop that would interest a wide cross
section of vocal and harmony enthusiasts. Emphasis will be placed on interesting
meetings and excellent performances.
District President Mac Dallman has asked us for a year
now to "PARTICIPATE IN EXCELLENCE". This would be a great standard for
a new chapter in the turn of our half century year. We are currently holding
weekly planning meetings and will send you all a special invitation to
our kick off meeting, Tuesday, February 3, 1998.
We have already selected a service project consistent
with the vision of Harmonize for Speech. The Robarts School for the Deaf
will benefit from our fund raising efforts. The School is also our meeting
hall and has provided us with fine facilities.
Suffice to say that we are looking for the support of
the established chapters in the western division and would welcome any
positive comments on the launching of this new project in our area. It
is our hope that we can double the impact of SPEBSQSA and all its benefits
in this dynamic community.
Wishing you all every success in your own plans, we remain
Yours in harmony ( Licensing team ):
