While they have been together for about 2 years, the members of Cadence have many years of quartet experience. Shortly after forming in the summer of 2002, they finished second in their first district contest. In October 2003, they returned to district contest in Cedar Rapids, IA, finishing first and earning the title of 2003 Central States District Quartet Champions.

Doug
Brooks (Lead) and Dave Brooks (Baritone) have each been
quartet singing for over 25 years. Doug has sung with three other
district champions (Four Star Revue - 1988, Four From Home - 1993,
Renaissance - 1995). Though he lives in St. Louis with his wife
Pat and stepsons Thomas and Cameron, Doug works in Springfield,
IL for the Illinois Department of Transportation (only a 200 mile
round trip each day!). Dave sang with Doug in "Four From
Home" and also sings in another quartet with Doug and their
two other brothers (called the "Brooks Brothers", of
course). Dave lives in St. Louis with his wife Linda and their
two children (Philip and Elsa). He works for A. G. Edwards and
Sons in St. Louis. (He's not a broker so don't ask him for any
stock tips!)
Alex
Brandt (Tenor) has been involved in music since he was
4 years old – but don’t ask him to get out his old
violin or trumpet. In high school, he was active in seven music
groups including a barbershop quartet and a chapter chorus. Alex’s
love of music has continued – at work Alex listens to music
on his headphones and occasionally hums aloud. (His boss and cube
mates will confirm!) He lives in the St. Louis area with his wife,
Shauna, baby Quentin, and his other blonde, Cassidy (a 14-year-old
white-faced mutt). Alex works for SAIC, located a short distance
from their new home. Apart from singing and humming, Alex likes
reading, completing home projects, and spending time with his
family, friends, and dog.
Vince
Smith (Bass) discovered barbershopping while in high
school, joining the Collinsville, IL Chapter in 1979. In college,
he also sang with a mixed choir that toured Europe and sang in
an international choir competition in Wales. Vince has been in
several quartets in both the Illinois and Central States District,
most recently with "Bases Loaded" and "Route 66".
He has also served on the board of directors for the Ambassadors.
Vince lives in St. Louis county with his wife Karla and their
son Nathan. He works as an estimator for a design/build construction
company, NewGround Resources, in St. Louis (but don’t ask
him for an estimate unless you want to sing first).
